Joseph M. Winkleman, 69, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018. He was the husband of Roberta (Zeltzer) Winkleman; they were married for 40 years.
He was born in Providence, a son of the late Charles and Jennett (Wainer) Winkleman. Joseph was a graduate of Classical High School and George Washington University.
He was the owner of Winkleman Travel in Cranston for over 30 years.
Joseph was a faithful member of Touro Fraternal and Congregation Beth Sholom, was a former member of the Masons and Shriner, and was a Cub Scout Master of Pack 104. He was a past president of the Rhode Island Vaad.
He was a big sports fan, following the Providence Bruins, Pawtucket Red Sox, and four Boston teams.
Survived By
Besides his wife, Roberta, he is survived by his children Dov Winkleman, Freda Ronkin (Daniel), Abby Cohen (Reuven), Ari Winkleman (Kelly), and Emily Winkleman (Margaret); his brother Henry Winkleman and sister-in-law Arlene; and his grandchildren Azriel, Maor, Naava, Binyamin, Yaakov, Tehilla, Shmuel, and Ayelet, along with over a dozen nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
And grandchildren born after his passing: Joseph, Rosie, and Yosef.
Services & Contributions
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 5, 2018 at Congregation Beth Sholom, 275 Camp Street, Providence, with burial at Lincoln Park Cemetery, Warwick.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Congregation Beth Sholom, or any charity of your choice.
